The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimates that at least 1.7 million traumatic brain injuries occur annually in the United States alone. As a former non-profit organization, funds raised went toward increasing awareness and education for student-athletes, coaches and parents, scholarships for college students studying a medical profession, and provided funding for PCS/concussion research.

GRANT DISTRIBUTION

The HeadsUp Foundation gave its first grant to Dr. Michael Rippee to fund his local research project: Feasibility of ketogenic diet as a treatment of post-concussion syndrome.

Dr. Rippee said, "The HeadsUp Foundation for PCS is doing very important work raising funds to help with education about concussion as well as to help fund research in post-concussion syndrome that will hopefully someday lead to better therapies for patients who suffer from PCS."
